I have made a batch of canvases to help everyone enjoy the amount of colors the F1 can create in IR and Blue Light. This will also help any one with any of the XTool Blue light diode lasers. There is a rainbow of colors available and this will help you to learn how to access them.

Step 1: Download the XCS file F1 - Stainless Color Key Book

Download the XCS file and unzip it to a location you can find.

Step 2: Open the book in XCS.

Open you XTool Creative Space and click the file at the top to open a project. Find and select the F1 - Stainless Steel Color Key Book to open.

Step 3: Start Here

The first canvas is start here. It has a little info and insight into why I made the book and suggestions. 

Step 4: Start with the next canvas <BL 3-27mm 10-100% 2p>

The second canvas should be BL 3-27mm 10-100% 2p. This translates to Blue light, 3-27mm/s speed, 10-100% speed and 2 passes. Do not ungroup the project. Click on it and make sure it is resized to the surface of material you intend to use. Utilize the framing feature to ensure you have adjusted properly. 

Step 5: Adjust focus automatically or manually

Next you will use the thickness box to adjust the laser height. It may ask you to use autofocus before, this is okay and will make a useful box under thickness. But PLEASE do not change the material from <User defined>. This may cause the entire print to come out wrong. If you do not want to use this auto focus/adjust then use your knob on the F1 to get the red and blue dot to merge on the surface of the material.

Step 6: ENGRAVE and watch the colors emerge!

Stop the framing on your machine. Close the shield and press the process button on XCS. Next screen you will press start so your F1 laser beeps and then you will press the rotary to begin. Now you get to watch the hues build and enjoy! Repeat steps 1-6 for any different finishes you will be using. 

Step 7: Use the third canvas <F1 - IR 3-27mm 10-100% 2p>

The third canvas should be IR 3-27mm 10-100% 2p. This translates to Infrared, 3-27mm/s speed, 10-100% speed and 2 passes. Do not ungroup the project. Click on it and make sure it is resized to the surface of material you intend to use. Utilize the framing feature to ensure you have adjusted properly. Then repeat steps 5 and 6 here. 

Step 8: Use the other canvases and have fun

There are several canvases for this book. This is because the first 2 give you the broadest spectrum of color you can get. You can dial in to the full spectrum by eliminating the squares that end up blank. Mirror finish palette is smaller than that of a brushed surface since the brushed surface can absorb more heat from the diode and IR lasers. You can also test the 1 pass canvas to see the hombre effect you can create by reducing the amount of heat you expose the material to. The biggest thing to keep in mind is heat = warpage as your material gets thinner. I have included pics of a 0.5mm thick SS dog tag that curled badly because of the amount of heat the blue light laser created. Lastly, I found that the blue light laser creates a full rainbow of colors dependent on the speed and power of the laser. The best way to describe the IR laser palette is a makeup palette. That was exactly what I called it when my girlfriend and I were trying to get it right. It gives you a broad spectrum from light tan to black and as the pic shows above looks like a palette example you would see for foundations at Ulta.
