Step 1: Design Stage 1
2 More images

Step 1) This project starts out with a rectangle made with the insert button. It is then has the corners rounded off with the help of the radius button. Now that the rectangle has it's new shape 2 different butterflies are selected from the shapes list. These 2 butterflies are outlined with a very small off set. Both of the butterflies get the same off set for the outline.

Step 2: Shaping the Mirror Backing

Step 2) Now we take the outlines only of the butterflies we created in the last step and place them just slight over the rounded rectangle, this then all gets high lighted and the combine feature is used to unite it all together. Now the mirror backing has the shapes of each butterfly within it's own body.

Step 3: The mirror View

Step 3) Now we need a hole for the actual mirror, this doesn't need to be any size it can be whatever you like. In this case it will be an oval, this oval is created with the insert button and placed in the most center of the backing. To ensure it is in the center the alignment tool is used and the vertical and horizontal lines are selected. Once this is ready the 2 butterflies from earlier are set to be engraved and are moved over in place of the outlines from before.

This 1/4" birch cuts perfectly with these settings providing the deep focus is used @ 2mm setting.

Step 4) Now everything is ready to go except a strong message for the little person that will be looking into this mirror the most. Beautiful Girl is spelled out with the text editor and once a font is picked it is sized to fit around the mirror opening. The curving text feature is used to adjust the wording so it follows the angle of the oval on the top and on the bottom.

Step 5: Finishiing

Step 5) Once the laser machine has finished cutting and engraving the assembly is quite simple, the mirror is 2 taped to the back exposing the mirror through the opening. I think she will like the mirror and a reminder of her being a beautiful girl when she does use it.
